Cougars pick up First Win of the season!

Wayne, P.A. - The Cougars baseball team picked up their first win of the season today defeating the Trojans of Valley Forge Military Academy by a score of 11-1.  The Cougars offense got going early in the first inning with a big two out rally scoring 4 runs on some costly Trojan errors.  Freshman pitcher, Chris Maldonado, threw 3 innings for the Cougars striking out 7 Trojan batters while only allowing one hit. Sophomore, Dominick Lopez, went 1-1 on the day with a double, 4 RBI's and a walk.

Coach Merkh said this about today's game.  "Obviously it's tough this time of year to get into a rhythm with the weather being so unpredictable.  We got washed out this weekend and it has definitely been frustrating to get consistent time out on the field.  We definitely did not look sharp defensively early in the game but Chris (Maldonado) did a heck of a job weathering the storm after some defensive mishaps on our end.  As the game went along it looked like we started to settle in and find our step. Our sophomores stepped up in some big situations which we lacked opening day. We still have a lot to work on, but it was definitely a big step in the right direction."

The Cougars next scheduled game is this upcoming Sunday at Paul D. Camp Community College in Virginia as the Cougars start their spring break trip down south.
