Blackwood, N.J. - The Camden County College Cougars baseball program is off to a strong start this 2018 season.  The Cougars posted a 15-5 record in the month of March for an overall record of 15-6.  The Cougars had a team batting average of .298 this past month and tallied 37 extra base hits.  The pitching staff has been spectacular as well.  The Cougars staff is averaging 10.66 strikeouts per 9 innings pitched, shut out teams 4 times, and even threw a no-hitter.

The Cougars are now on an 8 game winning streak as they swept their most recent doubleheader against Garden State Athletic Conference opponent, the Union County College Owls, this past Saturday at Camden County College.  The Cougars won big in both games winning game 1 by a score of 15-3.  Game 2 was much of the same as the Cougars beat the Owls 11-3 to sweep the series.

Coach Merkh had this to say about the Cougars hot start: "It was certainly a good month, no doubt about that.  This is a young team thats still learning and you can see guys maturing each game we play.  Early in the season we had to battle weather, schedule changes, and even our own immaturity lead to distractions. It was certainly humbling taking a bit of a thumping by RCGC but since then we've been able to remove some of the distractions and keep a pretty consistent schedule, we've been playing good baseball.  It's just the beginning however, we have a very tough April ahead of us.  I hope this momentum of winning 8 [games] in a row keeps up and it should be an exciting month of baseball."

The Cougars next game is tomorrow, 4/2/2018 again Rowan College of Burlington County Barons at Camden County College at 3pm. GO COUGARS
