Blackwood, N.J. - The Camden County College Cougars bounce back after dropping their last four games. The Cougars were swept last weekend by #1 nationally ranked, Cumberland County College Dukes. After that, the Cougars headed down to Harford Community College this past Tuesday for a night time slugfest. The Cougars battled after falling down 12-1 in that game. The game took over 4 hours as the Cougars ultimately wound up losing 14-11.
However the Cougars bounced back today in a big way against the Middlesex Blue Colts in the first of a three game conference series. Sophomore pitcher, Bobby Girgenti, picked up his 2nd win of the season as he threw a complete game. Girgenti only allowed 1 run on 6 hits while striking out 7 Blue Colts. Sophomore catcher, Jim Sayles, hit a 3 run home run in the first inning to give the Cougars an early lead. It was smooth sailing from there as the Cougars tore up the base paths stealing 7 bags, driving in 11 runs, and having multiple Cougars with multiple hits. The game ended on a 10 run rule after 7 innings as the Cougars win 13-1.
The Cougars are back in action tomorrow as they head to Middlesex Community College for the conclusion of the Garden State Athletic Conference series for a day time doubleheader. First pitch is 12pm. GO COUGARS!
