Men's Soccer Opens 2018 Campaign With Win!

Going into the night the Cougars were faced with extreme heat and against a scholarship team in Catonsville who was already 2-0 on the season. This would be the first match of the year for the Cougars since a previously scheduled scrimmage had been canceled. The players looked like they played an entire match before the first 45 started because of the heat. Coach Nuss has trained hard all preseason and had his team prepared for the 90 minutes to follow. During the first half the Cougars had some scoring chances but could not find the back of the net. At the half the score was 0-0. When the Cougars came out in the second half they pushed hard and finally at the 34 minute to go mark they found the back of the net, the goal was credited to Lucas Pecegueiro but according to Lucas it was Joao Chiarioni who should have been credited with the goal since he redirected the shot with his head for the goal. The final 34 minutes would run out and the Couagrs starting goalie Asier Vegas was credited with the shutout. The first win on the season is also Coach Nuss's first career win at the helm for the Cougars.

The Cougars will rest up on Wednesday and start Thursday preparing for another tough team which they will face on Thursday, September 6th as they travel to Mercer CCC for a 4pm match.
